What is the measure of a good air suspension kit?

The quality of a car largely depends on the air suspension accessory system, so air suspension manufacturers will tirelessly introduce suspension concepts such as MacPherson, multi-link, and double wishbone. The protagonist in our article is the electronically controlled air suspension, and the reason why it was selected is simple, it is frequently seen in luxury cars.

Before discussing electronically controlled air suspension, let's take a look at the composition of ordinary air suspension accessories. Like the general suspension system, the air suspension also requires elastic elements and shock absorption elements, but usually, these two parts of the elements are integrated and are not as easy to distinguish as ordinary suspension shock absorbers and coil springs.

Gas pressure shock absorbers are divided into double-tube and single-tube types. In single-tube pneumatic shock absorbers, the working oil chamber and oil reservoir are located in a cylinder block (single tube), and the damping valves for compression and stretching stroke are integrated in the piston. When the suspension spring is pressed, the thrust-in of the piston rod changes the oil volume, and the change in oil volume is equal to the change in the volume of gas in the pressurized air cushion. The double-tube air pressure shock absorber consists of two tubes installed together, the inner pipe is filled with hydraulic oil, between the outer pipe and the inner pipe is an oil storage chamber, but it is not full, and the upper part is an air cushion. In operation, the amount of oil in the reservoir is equal to the amount of change in the amount of oil in the studio. The vibration damping valve is distributed at the bottom of the piston and the working oil chamber, and the damping work is mainly completed by the bottom valve when the shock absorber is pressed down, and the piston valve plays a decisive role when stretching.

The air spring is mainly composed of an upper housing with an external guide sleeve, an air spring air bag and an undulating piston. Among them, the air spring air bag is made of special multi-layer artificial rubber material, and the nylon thread mesh is embedded as a reinforcement material. The innermost part of the airbag is a specially designed innerliner, and the special combination between the layers allows the air spring to have good undulation characteristics and accurately respond to suspension action. The role of the external guide sleeve is to absorb the surrounding force, and the gas spring with this metal sleeve is called the "external guide" air spring.

So what are the benefits of air suspension accessories over regular suspension? Why is modern only equipped with high-end cars? First of all, the air suspension uses the air spring as the elastic element, and uses the compressibility of the gas to achieve its elastic effect; Secondly, the air pressure of the compressed gas can be adjusted with the load and road conditions; Then there is the low natural frequency of the gas spring, and the natural frequency is almost unchanged when the load changes. The air shock absorber has outstanding performance in eliminating high-frequency vibration, reducing noise and increasing the damping effect. In short, although the air suspension is not the most outstanding in terms of elasticity, it has good cushioning and can effectively suppress the vibration frequency. With the above sports characteristics, it is determined that the air suspension has the advantages of comfortable and safe ride, improved driving smoothness of the vehicle, extended service life of tires and brake pads, and the body height can not be changed when the load changes. However, relatively speaking, the air suspension manufacturing process is complex, the maintenance cost is high, and the size is large, so it is mainly used in high-end cars.

The emergence of electronically controlled air suspension accessories solves the above problems. Typical electronically controlled air suspension links electronic control units (ECUs), air compressors, vehicle height sensors, steering angle sensors, speed sensors, brake sensors and other components on the basis of ordinary air suspensions. The adjustment of the electronically controlled air suspension is achieved by changing the air capacity and pressure. For example, the electronically controlled shock absorber can divide the damping into multiple stages through a control lever that adjusts the size of the measuring hole, so as to achieve the purpose of controlling the damping. Valve adjustments, such as the use of valve adjustments between the two chambers, can also make the air spring change between soft and hard. Because the total volume of the connected double air chamber makes the air spring softer, once the valve is closed, it will harden with the capacity of one air chamber to assume the role of the air spring.
